📍 📍 Hello everybody. Doctor Blake

here with

Calhoun Spine

and Wellness Center. I just want to go over something that we commonly see in our office and that’s neck pain. Neck pain is mostly, in most cases, triggered by just a lot of forward head posture. And we get that from basically living the lifestyles that we live today.

Most people’s jobs are sitting at a desk bent over typing. Looking at a screen or we’re in the big, heavy device world. We’re always carrying devices, looking down at them or typing with them. And it creates a muscle memory that creates a pattern that makes us rounded in our shoulders and forward in our head.

And when our head goes forward, the weight of the head actually goes up. on the shoulder or on the spine. It’s like a bowling ball. It feels different if you hold it by your side than if you hold it out here with the head being resembling the bowling ball per se on the spine. So I want to give you a few tips today on what you can do to avoid becoming a person with chronic neck pain.

And it’s just really simple as doing opposite of what you’re doing. So since we’re forward in our shoulders, we need to exercise that brings our shoulders back. So what I’ll recommend is just enter, just put your hands on top of one another and the back of your lower back and then take your elbows and press them back, making this opening.

So that we’re getting the roundness of the shoulders out. Another tip for head posture being forward is I want you to, you can actually do it while you’re doing this. Tilt your head to the right or left, turn your head to the right or left, and then tilt your head back ear over your shoulder and hold it for about a minute.

So that’s taking away the forwardness. of the head and bringing it back. Okay, everybody do these exercises. It should help you with your neck pain, especially for those that work at a desk. If you continue to have issues, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. We work on this here all the time with chiropractic care, laser therapy.

We have special exercises that we work with to help people rejuvenate their posture per se. So give us a call.
